Video Game Meme cause I'm bored [Oct. 5th, 2010|10:00 am]
Orochi Serge
The rules: Don’t take too long to think about it. Fifteen video games you’ve played that will always stick with you. List the first fifteen you can recall in no more than fifteen minutes.

I'm sure I'm going against the rules but I only wrote the list of the fifteen games with in the time allowed. What I say about the game does not go against the time.

Don't want to tl;dr your LJCollapse )

Wow over 2 weeks. [Mar. 18th, 2010|09:03 am]
Orochi Serge
[mood |chipperchipper]

Been awhile huh? Yeah sorry about that, laziness once again got the best of me, but I'm sure you all know how that goes right?

I got my 360 back and I'm happy, which meant I was able to finish off Mass Effect 2. Talk about an awesome ending battle, holy shit did that kick ass. Yeah I'm going out on a limb here and saying that Mass Effect 2 is my RPG of the Year. Of course that may change with Fallout New Vegas, but we'll see.

Also finished Bioshock 2. Another quality game, my only issue with the ending (with out giving spoilers) is that you don't really fight a final boss. They just toss large group of enemies at you, and you really didn't need to do anything. You could summon something that would do all the work for you. Still the storyline was really great, but I did wish I could learn more about Delta's origins (unless I missed a few things that would've explained who he was before). I would love to make a Delta costume but that would be impossible for me, Cristi would make the perfect older Elanor.

Final Fantasy XIII is a decent game so far. Graphicswise it's probably one of the best looking games I've seen, however other than that I find it hard to really get into. My love for Final Fantasy is obviously not what it use to be. When I had FF6,7,8,and 9 I would stop everything that I was doing until I finished each of those games. I plan on picking up DAO: Awakenings which may put FFXIII on the shelf still. I guess I enjoy American/European RPGs more than JRPGs now a days.

Finally got Rukia fixed this past Monday, she's doing really well. Her stitching is internal, and she's back to being her usual peppy self. Of course I can't kick her off the couch when she lays next to me and kicks me with her claws while she sleeps. I have no choice but to deal with that for awhile. It's no surprise Ichigo is being more of an emo cat than before, Failcat can't stand not getting any attention.

This weekend Cristi and I will be hitting two parties. One for my grandfather's birthday and the other will be a St. Patrick's Day party. Next weekend we'll be hitting Philly, though my car is giving me a bit of issues. While it seems to be nothing dire, I hope the oil change, and transmission flush and fill will solve the problem. If not I think Cristi and I may need a ride to Philly. I'll let you all know next week.

It's going to be another gorgeous day, I think tonight I'll go on another walk with Cristi, those are always nice with her.

I shouldn't be as excited as I am with us getting a 7-11 next to my apartment. But I am!!! I look forward to being able to walk two minutes to get a Slurpee and a Cheeseburger Big Bite Hotdog anytime I want!!

Really like the new show "Justified" on FX. But every time I see him getting ready to draw his gun I really want him to say "Think you can take me? Go head on". I'm sure there are some of you that got the reference and if you do, you are awesome.

I guess that's it for now, I'll try to make another entry next week. No promises!!

Oh gaming consoles [Mar. 1st, 2010|09:37 am]
Orochi Serge
[mood |awakeawake]

This generation of consoles should just be known as Generation Crap. All three consoles seem to have issues (Wii being the lesser of the three, but still has it's own fair share of problems).

I may have mentioned this all ready but my 360 was the lucky recipient of a third RRoD. Now my PS3 is giving me issues, more so related to the Playstation network. According to this link, we got Y2K ten years too late. While I did play Bioshock 2 with no problems other than not getting on my PS3. There have been word that people have lost their trophies. Now I'm not much of a trophy/achievement wrangler but I could understand people being annoyed with that. I don't know what the fuck these companies are doing or who they have for play testers. But yeah seriously this look bad on all ends.

Now let's discuss about the games I am enjoying. Lately I've been playing Bioshock 2 and Alien vs. Predator.

Bioshock 2 has been a great game. I don't know if it's better than the first one, but I'm close to the end so I'll determine that afterward. The story is decent, and I think what I love most about the game is that they changed the hacking. I felt the first game's hacking kind of stole the grove you had for the game, while part 2 you can practically hack while on the go. I can't really say anything negative about the game with the exception of the limited ammo you can carry for your weapons and the fact that I'm apparently playing the only Big Daddy that has paper for armor. Big Sisters are no joke.

I rented AvP through Gamefly, the reviews had me wary but since I love both franchises I figured it was worth a shot to try. The game is honestly not too bad, playing the Predator and Alien scenarios is actually really fun. I'm more of a fan of the Predator scenario thanks to all of the weaponry you can use from him, and it's all really about stealth. I can see why people didn't like the Marine scenario, it hasn't been bad for me but it can be better. I hate most about playing a Marine is the lighting, you get a crappy flash light and you're spamming flares. I get the whole concept of fighting the Aliens in the dark, yes that's cool. But I wish they took notes from Dead Space and not Doom 3.

Also downloaded the God of War 3 demo before the PSN crashed. Brutal, violent, and purdy graphicswise. Just what I would expect.

The Olympics are over, I am sad. They were good this year for being the Winter games (I'm more of a Summer Olympics fan). It will be nice to have Chuck, 30 Rock and the Office back though. But good job Canada for throwing a great Olympics, and despite the USA not winning the Gold medal Hockey game, that was one hell of an effort.

This past Friday Cristi and I went to see Cop Out. It was very funny, I think it went 20 minutes too long but hey I was entertained so I couldn't complain too much for that. This Friday Cristi wants to see "Alice in Wonderland: Hot Topics Next Big Payday". That's on her dime though, since I did say that I would pay to see "Clash of the Titans". I need to get Cristi to watch the original version though. She's refusing to, brat.

Hung out with Jeff and Griffin, went to see my parents, and walked into Potomac Mills Mall for the first time in years. A lot has changed in there but at the same time there are a lot that is still the same. That whole area however sucks if you want to go out to eat. It became way too over crowded for my liking, the Sterling/Leesburg area isn't nearly as bad.

That's all I got for now later!!

Dragoncon....so far [Feb. 22nd, 2010|11:00 pm]
Orochi Serge
So since Cristi and Deej posted thier D*C line up, I felt I should too.

1. Autolycus: Cause there is an apparent Xena group, and there is no doubt I'm going to be the King of Thieves.

2. Captain Jonathan Archer: I'm getting an Orion girl (maybe 3 of them!!)

3. Gambit: It's about time I finally do this one

4. Nathan Drake: He rules, I love Uncharted. Not much at all to this costume.

(not pictured)
5. I want to wear a Men in Black costume, but only if I could get a big MIB group. For some reason I want to have a picture of us arresting a Predator. Hell maybe if we got enough people we could march in the parade.

6. Kyle Rayner: Just decided since there is an aiming for a large Lantern Corps group. If the MIB thing doesn't work out for the parade, maybe the Lantern Corps? Of course this would require Cristi to get up waaaaay early to get painted orange, the likelihood of her doing that is not so good.
(All costumes can be subject to change)

I can't wait for D*C, and glad I don't have to worry about anything big until then.

Katsucon, Daytona 500, STO!!! [Feb. 15th, 2010|01:47 pm]
Orochi Serge
[mood |chipperchipper]

Katsucon was an awesome time, far from what I was expecting but that's ok in my book. I loved the venue and I hope they return next year. It's in the contract but I guess we'll see what happens. I'll be back if they do return. The groups that I was in (Slayers, Sailor Moon) were just as great. The Chocolate parfait joke was a hit, and Eve made one awesome Naru with Brooklyn accent and all.

I haven't heard any other problems except for the music choices at the Ball which I do think is lame they decided to use raver type music at a formal ball. Come on guys, what's up with that? I didn't think it was worth it for me to buy a $50 since the only thing I did actually con related was go into the dealer's room. But that's me after all, I never do anything animecon related anyways. But it did feel good that I had no obligations to run a panel, event, or perform in a skit. Just wear a costume, spend some money, and get crazy drunk.

But I am glad about one thing, I don't have to worry about another convention until September (which is of course Dragoncon). I may make a Saturday appearance at Otakon but that's it. Not worrying about another convention for awhile is a very very great feeling.

As far as Valentines goes Cristi and I bought each other a bunch of cool gifts. I did get her a cute bear since you all know her love for bears, also a few Nia figures and a cool Ducktales magnet. She in turn got me Bioshock 2 and a hot little Kallen figure. Oh yeah I also put up with getting rocks glued to my face.

The Daytona 500 was an awesome race. Probably one of the best I've seen in years. Even though it was plagued by two big delays thanks to a random pot hole that kept appearing on the track. But hey, I enjoy the race ending under the lights. Well check out the final two laps of the race.

I wanted Junior to win of course, but hey I don't mind McMurray winning the race, he did deserve it. It was awesome seeing how Junior came out of no where to take second, if there was only one hundred more feet to the finish I think he could have taken it. McMurray also sort of looks like vartan

Finally put together some screen shots from STO, so here they are!!

Fuck yeah Galaxy Class Cruiser!!

More behind the cutCollapse )

I go back to work tomorrow, it was nice to have a sudden impromptu vacation, but I knew it would end eventually. But hey if that means no more major snow storms, I'll be ok with that.

Ready for round 2? NO MAS!!! [Feb. 9th, 2010|11:24 am]
Orochi Serge
[mood |blahblah]

If only that could work.

Well like most of you in the East coast. Cristi and I were snow bound all weekend. I got to leave work early on Friday and stayed in my apartment the entire weekend. At one point our power went out at 4:30am on Saturday, so we had quite the chilly morning. I expected us to not get out power back until possibly Monday (which meant thinking of alternate plans to watch the Super Bowl). But by 2pm that afternoon, it was restored. So that wasn't too bad, not to mention my company was closed on Monday so I had a nice free day off.

So here are some kudos.

Kudos to Dominion Power for quickly fixing the power outage. I don't know if it was due to my call or something, but I honestly did not expect our power to return that soon.

Kudos to my neighbors for helping me dig out my car, as well as letting me borrow an extra shovel to dig out Cristi's Jeep. It probably would've taken a few more hours to dig out both vehicles had it not been for how awesome the people that live near me are. I think these set of neighbors are the best neighbors Cristi and I have lived near.

And now here are some "C'MON MAAAAAN!!!"

VDOT: I understand side roads are not your top priority, you got major roads to deal with. But I and many others consider Rt 15, Rt 7, and Rt 28 major road ways. They should have had at least one run through. I wouldn't be as annoyed if you simply admitted that you were going to wait until after this upcoming storm....C'MON MAAAAAAAAAN!!

Windsor: You keep increasing our rent and yet you could've done a much better job plowing our parking lot. What the hell do you do with that extra money you gouge from us?.....C'MON MAAAAAAAAN!!

Katsucon: Despite this not being weather related, all the stuff that is going on with you guys.....C'MON MAAAAAAN!!!

Yes Cristi and I will be attending Katsucon still, I just can't wait for it to pass by. I am looking forward to seeing everyone and be in the groups we are in. But this will be the last animecon we attend a full weekend for a long time. I will venture out on Thursday to get chocolate parfaits.

Now on to Star Trek Online. I played that game most of the weekend, since I still have no 360 and that means no Mass Effect 2. I am two levels away from reaching Captain which mean Galaxy Class Cruiser(Enterprise D ftw)!!! The game still has a lot of glitches, but that is standard with MMOs on launch. I just wish they would fix the issues that need to be dealt with right away (over priced bank tabs, getting kicked off the game for going into certain instances). My bridge officers are mostly modeled after my friends. Camille is my Borg Bridge Officer, Jon and Becky are Andorians, Sara is a Betazoid, Deidre and Rob are Humans, and Cristi is a Vulcan (no surprise there). I thought about making my character an Andorian but instead just went Human. I will post screen shots of the game soon. I wish I could have Orions in my crew.

I want Bioshock 2, but that'll have to wait until next week.

That's it for the week. You all stay safe!!!

Really? [Jan. 25th, 2010|10:06 am]
Orochi Serge
[mood |awakeawake]

I have no idea what's up with Katsucon. I mean I knew it was a shitload of fuck this year but wow I'm glad I'm not hosting a panel this year. I mean really? 6:00am panels? Is anyone going to be up for something like that? I'm sure as hell not, I don't know anyone with a lick of sense that will. I don't even have to be at work that early.

I will be paying to get a badge for the con, I have not been to the National Harbor area and would really like to see it. Plus I don't want to have any obligations to the convention with the exception of being in the masquerade (though at this point I'm starting to be on the fence with that). I'm looking forward to the two groups Cristi is setting up, and of course seeing everyone.

So I'm going to root for the Saints to win the Super Bowl. Brees deserves a Championship, and I also want to see Greg Williams win it too. He was the defensive coordinator for the Redskins during the second Joe Gibbs era. When Gibbs retired, a lot of people believed that he would take the reigns of head coach. After a month of being strung around by Snyder, he wasn't considered "head coach" material and hired Zorn. By then all other head coaching jobs were filled screwing over Williams. So seeing him win a Championship would be in a way a slap to Daniel Snyder's face.

I've been playing the Star Trek Online Open Beta. With the exception of the typical bugs you experience on a Beta, it's a really fun game. The space battles is my favorite part in the game, you have to do three things at once while in combat. Like I said the game has it's flaws but what MMO didn't when it was first launched. I look forward to playing the actual version starting this Friday. Tonight will be my last night to play the Open Beta, since tomorrow Mass Effect 2 will be released.

So anyone else planning on getting STO? I'm setting up a fleet. For those who are not in my Fleet group on Facebook, let me know if you are getting the game and want to join up.

I guess that is all for the week.

A weekly post!! [Jan. 12th, 2010|08:28 am]
Orochi Serge
[mood |chipperchipper]

This past weekend was fun, Cristi and I went to Philadelphia and hung out with Val. We went to JoMars where my Christmas present to Cristi was to buy her however amount of fabric she wanted from there, I think she got every stretch vinyl she could find there. But in the end she found fabric for most of her costumes she plans on wearing for the entire year. The other half of her gift was to take her to the first Hibachi place we had ever gone to as a couple in Penn's Landing, Val was also our date as well. It's been a long time since I had a hibachi type dinner, soooooo good.

After dinner we chilled at Val's place for the entire night, Stefan came over as well while we watched the Eagles choke like they normally do in the post season XD and then watched some SNL. We left Sunday morning, but we did stop by the old Girard Mini Mart to get our favorite cheese steaks.

Got home, fixed the furniture, threw away some stuff and became lazy for the remainder of the day.

I'm feeling pretty upbeat about things. With the exception of maybe two negative things, I'm feeling pretty confident. I guess the Holiday woes are gone meaning I'm no longer broke, but I also feel confident about 2010.

Katsucon is coming up, and here are the people that are in my room.

Jon (1 night?)
Deej (1 night?)

I still have to get with Deej to discuss about the skit, though every time we get together that is the last thing I want to discuss. I'm trying to figure out how to make certain things work that involves the skit that I don't agree with. Oh well we'll see how things go I guess.

Cristi and I want to fly to Dragoncon this year. I think my love for road trips has somewhat withered. This past year driving back I was so ready to be home and I was only in North Carolina. It had nothing to do with the people in the car, I'm just tired of driving long distances.

So my question goes out to my DC area friends who travels to Atlanta by plane. What site do you normally go to for the best prices on Airline tickets? When is the best time to book? Anything else I should know? The last time I was in an airplane was back in 1991 flying from Germany to the US, it's been quite awhile. Again I only ask my local DC friends, I appreciate the thought but I have no interest knowing what prices are like from North Carolina, Florida or Philly.

See ya!!!

First post of 2010 [Jan. 4th, 2010|09:20 am]
Orochi Serge
[mood |optimisticoptimistic]

Well here's my first post. We brought in the new year in a fun way, hanging out with some awesome people. I don't know what we plan on doing next NYE, but I have a year to figure that all out.

I do have my typical adult goals that I want to accomplish, and I feel I will be able to get them completed. But there are 3 things I want to do that many people would think are frivolous, but you know what? I could care less what any else thinks. Here are the three.

1. Go to Japan with Cristi: I'd love to go to Japan for two weeks, spend a few days in Tokyo and then tour the country. Maybe we can have that by next NYE, we'll see how things go.

2. Go to San Fransisco and see the 49ers play: The 49ers will be getting a new stadium by 2012 more than likely. I have always wanted to see a game played at Candlestick Park. The 2010 season maybe the best year to go. They are possibly playing the Raiders in 2010, so hopefully I can go see that game with my brother (of course I'd like to take Cristi as well and see the city).

3. Drive a stock car on a race track: There are plenty of racing schools you can drive several laps in a stock car, but I'd prefer to go to one of the schools in Charlotte, North Carolina. Either the Buddy Baker or Richard Petty Experience would be one of the two I'd love to get in on.

I know I won't be able to do all three (hah I'd love to though), but if I don't get at least one of them completed this year, then 2010 will be a failure for me.

Finished Modern Warfare 2's story mode. Talk about an intense storyline, my only beef was it felt a little shorter than the first MW. I'd like to try multiplayer but I wish I had the 360 version, but I won't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Assassin's Creed 2 is waaaaaaaaaaay better than the first one. It pretty much took out everything I didn't like about the first one. No repetitive side quests or pretty much doing the same three steps in each city to get to your main target. Ubisoft is going the right direction with it, I hope it keeps up.

I've also been playing a lot of Forza 3. Great racing game, it'll hold me over until GT5 comes out. My only problem with the game is that it enjoys tossing you free cars after each level. It kind of takes the challenge in buying a new ride since you'll probably get it free eventually. I think it would have been better if you got a free car every five levels. The custom decals part of the game is fun, check out what I did with a Camaro.

The Chevy Gurren Lagann SSCollapse )

Got a ton more other games to play, nice to not have an MMO suck my gaming life away.

This weekend Cristi and I will be up in Philly. For Cristi's Christmas present, I am going to buy all the fabric she needs for I guess the year, then we're going to Hibachi as it was the first hibachi type restaurant we had ever went too as a couple. Any one who wants to hang out give me a call. We will be staying with the hotness that is Val.

It's hard to tell who's going to make it to the Super Bowl and even win it. I'm going to not make any predictions (San Diego seems to be the strongest and has a lot of momentum). I was happy to see the 49ers have a first non losing season since 2002. Let's hope they can punch it into the playoffs next seasons.

Think I'll actually watch Monday Night Raw tonight, Bret Hart is back! I'll probably flip it to check out what TNA is planning with Hulk Hogan. Reminds me of times in the 90s when I use to flip between Raw and Nitro.

I'm feeling really positive about 2010. I'm confident that Cristi and I will be in a much better place (in all accounts)by the end of the year.

Holiday Times [Dec. 23rd, 2009|09:23 am]
Orochi Serge
[mood |calmcalm]

My last day of work until Monday. I actually did not know I had the 24th off until yesterday, so I'm glad to have such a pleasant surprise. Tomorrow Cristi and I will finish up on Holiday stuff and go see The Princess and the Frog. I hope to catch Sherlock Holmes at some point this weekend.

Just like mostly everyone in the Mid-Atlantic to North East, we were hit by the snow storm. Cristi and I stayed the entire weekend home. I only went outside once to dig out both mine and Cristi's car. I think that was the most work I've done in a year.

As for NYE it seems like the numbers are dwindling, but you know what? That's ok with me. I kind of wanted something small anyways, and if the numbers are low? Then hey more time to spend with the folks that will be there. We are still going to have an awesome time.

I'm playing through Mass Effect again in preparation for part 2. I wish I could keep all my character stats but change the look of my character, he looks like a Neanderthal. I have a bad habit where I keep trying to press select for the map (like in Dragon Age) but instead grenades are thrown. I also hope they plan on either improving or getting rid of the Mako missions. That was the only negative thing that game had in my opinion.

Oh yeah I did enjoy Avatar, I wish I got to see it in IMAX. Oh well I bet it'll look really nice on Blu Ray.

Well seeing as I rarely update my LJ, this will more than likely be my last post of the year. So everyone have a great Holiday and an awesome New Year!!
